In July 2022, Google launched a new report in Search Console to help webmasters understand the performance of their videos on Google and identify any potential areas for improvement. On February 1, 2023, they released more updates to the report to make it even easier to use.
The new update is an overlay showing daily video impressions over time. This information can be found in the Video Indexing Report and is aggregated by page, meaning if the same page appears multiple times in a single search result or Discover session, each appearance counts as an impression. The Search Performance report groups video search appearances by property instead of URL which means if multiple pages show up in a search result, it will only count one impression - this could lead to lower impression counts than the Video Page Indexing Report shows.
Google Search Console has launched an update that allows users to filter the Video Indexing Report by a selected sitemap. This filter applies to all features of the report: the chart, chart totals, issue list and exports. This update will make it easier for users to stay on top of how their videos are performing on Google Search. In addition, there is now an “Impressions” overlay in the Video Indexing Report which shows how many times a video appears in search results over time.
