Over the last few years, Google has been working to add more and more specific rich results search appearances to the Search Console Performance reports. As of today, there are 19 supported search appearance types to help website owners understand how their websites perform in Google Search.
A few years ago, Google created a generic "Rich results" search appearance group that included multiple rich result types, including those that didn't have their own breakout row on Search Console. However, this is no longer necessary since there are now breakouts for most rich result types, such as Event, FAQ, HowTo, and more.
In addition, Google realizes that grouping data for rich results is not ideal, as each type may have a significantly different behavior. Therefore, they have decided to sunset the Rich result search appearance.
Google is making a change to the Search Console reporting interface. The "Search Appearance" report is being deprecated and will no longer be available after August 1, 2021. This change does not affect traffic in any way, it is only a reporting change. Google is investing in adding more rich result types to Search Console, and hopes the reports will continue being a source of insights for users.
